Judo is a Martial Art and Sport founded in 1882 by Jigoro Kano. Judo is practiced internationally and has been active in the Puget Sound area for over 100 years.
Perseverance is a value we teach and develop in our students because we believe success in Judo and the real world is the result of dedication, focus, and courage.
Mutual Welfare and Benefit is a core principal of Judo. When we teach and practice Judo we do so in a manner that both players benefit and grow. By exercising this principal we strengthen our ability to act with compassion, respect, and self-control even under stressful or scary situations.
The most fundamental principal to executing a Judo move is to use your opponents force against them. We learn that if we fight strength vs. strength the strongest person will always prevail. We develop the skills to prevail by using leverage, off balance, and inertia to overcome the opponent.
